What is the earliest aircraft to break cloud level?

Or, alternately, what are the highest flying early aircraft models? Any information along those lines would be great. What is the earliest aircraft to break cloud level?
Many aircraft could fly at 20,000 feet by the end of WW1. The limit was the pilot. Reliable oxygen systems were not developed until the 1930s which allowed flight into the stratosphere above the highest clouds, cirrus at 40,000 feet. What is the earliest aircraft to break cloud level?
You can't use cloud level, since clouds can reach the ground.
