What is a silver lining on a cloud as referred to in the saying?

Clouds have many bright shades but a silver one? Where does this saying come from and why silver? What is a silver lining on a cloud as referred to in the saying?
It comes from the fact that if it is just a single cloud and the sun is streaming behind it, the edges of the cloud glow bright grey, kinda silvery. So it's connected in that if the cloud passes then the sun is going to come out and it'll be sunny, just like if a trouble in your life (the cloud) passes then the sun is always there behind it and it'll eventually shine through and something nice will happen. What is a silver lining on a cloud as referred to in the saying?
No matter how bad things are, they can only get better. Remember-- Always look on the bright side of life.de dum de dum etc:What is a silver lining on a cloud as referred to in the saying?
It was a phrase used shortly after the 2nd world war to encourage people to think positively. Clouds usually dampen people's hope but the intention was to say that even a cloud has something good about it that may not at first be obvious.

ie the silver lining.

I think it has a Biblical origin, but can't remember where in the Old Testament.

I think it's a lovely expression and reminds of my mother listening to a UK radio programme called (I think) 'Silver

Linings'.

I found the following on a website called GoEnglish.com: Every cloud has a silver lining means that the sun shining at the edges of every cloud reminds us that every difficult situation has a bright side. Example: "This really is a tough situation. Do you think things will work out for the best?" Reply: "I'm sure they will. Every cloud has a silver lining."
The saying is 'Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining'

for example:-

If you are feeling down things will brighten up.

The feeling down means the cloud

The silver lining means it will brighten up

Just one of our English sayings.
